KIDS

children, kids, childhood-5833685.jpg

Never has this old man seen

The happiness in those eyes that gleam

Of children playing

In a lot of piles of bricks and big dirt clods

I had to come abroad

And leave my comfort zone

To appreciate the struggles

Of these kids without a home

The environmental change I see

I’m sure exists at home

But there we just throw dollars

At the affected pollution zone

And here the children get to play

With an empty tube of paste

Or an errant milk jug

Tossed out in the waste

Their shrieks of glee

Resound thru’ me

As they run and jump of joy

In their discovery of

That errant milk jug toy

Little do I appreciate

The innocence that I’ve seen

Created by an errant jug

In those little eyes that gleam.
